St. Patrick Academy seeks positive working relationship with LCSD#7

On June 9 2023, Heather and Sam Tacchini and I met with Mr. Carter, the Superintendent of Lake County School District #7, to talk about sports and electives. The meeting was very positive and both District 7 (Carter) and St. Patrick Academy want to kindle a good relationship and partnership. Like we've been saying all along, as long as we officially work under the homeschool co-op model, we fall under the District's precedent and policy of allowing homeschool students within the district to compete in sports and enroll in electives. The purpose of this post is to reassure everyone and hopefully put to rest any rumors that may be floating around.

There was a second meeting on June 29, 2023 to continue the discussion between the Academy and local school district. Mr. Carter was positive and said he was willing to work with St. Patrick Academy. He stressed that students not enrolled in District 7 who wish to participate in sports, take electives and classes need to officially be signed up with the Lake County ESD as home school students. The good news is school district policy is already in place. It is an important technicality and won’t affect how we run St. Patrick Academy. We will help you take care of this piece at student registration.
